Worst Drink

The Gary Mary is my nominee for worst drink of the series. That judgment is not based on the beverage itself, which I never tasted — though to look at the ingredients I imagine it's pretty awful. It's the concept behind the drink that really sucks. Because there really is no concept.

We should have shot the Gary Mary in Gary, of course, but we didn't think of it. We shot it on the fire escape of the Allen Building in downtown Bloomington, because we thought that might look like Gary.

But what really makes this drink irrelevant and forgettable is its utter lack of any connection to the themes of ROX #83. J tries to make some half-hearted connections, but we didn't even use garlic as an ingredient!

At the time we thought we had to have a drink in every episode, but we'd have been better off skipping it if we couldn't come up with anything better than this.
