The chill of the impending Indiana winter drove us out of the attic. We performed our hosting duties for ROX #19, “Cold Weather Tips,” in our apartment proper, where we would remain for the rest of our first season.
I hate and fear cold weather. This show was a coping mechanism for me. Our tips for survival were, for the record:
1. Hot drinks.
2. Burn things.
3. Prison.
4. Stuff your clothes with the Add Sheet.
5. Move south.
6. Ben-Gay.
7. Grow your hair.
My supervisor at DialAmerica Marketing, Chris Briones, saw this episode. It really cracked him up, especially the scene of me stuffing my clothes with the Add Sheet.
If you pay close attention, you'll notice that there's an advertisement in the Add Sheet for a show at Rhino's featuring my band, the Submersibles.
Incidentally I made a few bucks handing out the Add Sheet on campus, a job that sucked even worse than telemarketing. I quit when I found myself abusing random passersby.
I eventually followed our advice and heeded tip #5 when I moved to New Orleans in 1999.
